CfHEDS undergraduate Maria Gamez has been given the UC Merced Department of Physics' Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award. Congratulations, Maria! She worked on the phone physics project with Dr. Dave Rakestraw from LLNL in summer 2021, co-authoring a paper in press at The Physics Teacher, and did research with Prof. Ajay Gopinathan for a senior thesis on "Impact of the number of motors on cargo on the switching probability and pause duration at microtubule intersections," which she presented at the American Physical Society March Meeting.
